Introduction to eNACH

eNACH stands for Electronic National Automated Clearing House.

It is a digital system for automated recurring payments, allowing to collect EMIs, bills, and subscriptions directly from your bank account.

It eliminates the need for manual payments or paperwork, ensures timely transactions, and provides a secure and regulated digital platform.

An e-Mandate is a similar digital instruction that allows recurring payments or credits automatically. It is a pre-approved authorisation from the customer to the lender or service provider and is commonly used for EMIs, investments, subscriptions, or credit card payments.

How eNACH Works (Step by Step)

Setting up eNACH is simple and fully digital. Here’s how the process works step by step:

  1. Customer Authorisation – The borrower approves the lender or service provider to debit a specified amount automatically.
  2. Bank Verification – The bank verifies the request using net banking, debit card, or Aadhaar OTP.
  3. Mandate Approval – Once verified, the eNACH mandate is activated.
  4. Automated Payment – The approved amount is debited automatically on the scheduled date.

Types of e-Mandate

1. Debit e-Mandate

  • Automatically deducts a specified amount from your bank account at fixed intervals.
  • Commonly used for recurring payments like loan EMIs or subscription charges.

2. Credit e-Mandate

  • Automatically credits funds to your bank account from another entity.
  • Useful for scheduled refunds.

Benefits of eNACH

  • Hassle-Free Payments – No need to remember due dates.
  • Timely Transactions – Avoid missed payments and penalties.
  • Secure and Regulated – Overseen by NPCI and your bank.
  • Fully Digital – No paperwork or bank visits required.
  • One-Time Setup – Once registered, payments continue automatically.
  • Improved Financial Discipline – Helps maintain a healthy credit profile.

Eligibility and Documents Required

To activate eNACH, you need:

  • A valid Aadhaar card linked with your bank account
  • A bank account that supports NACH/e-Mandate services
  • A registered mobile number linked with the bank account and Aadhaar for OTP verification
  • The financial institution must be authorised to offer NACH/e-Mandate services

Meeting these requirements ensures a smooth and quick setup process.

eNACH simplifies recurring payments by making them automated, secure, and timely, allowing borrowers to focus on their financial goals without worrying about missed due dates. With minimal paperwork, a fully digital process, and regulated oversight, eNACH helps maintain financial discipline, saves time, and ensures a smooth, hassle-free payment experience for both borrowers and lenders.
